Cynthia Yee points out a building once used as a brothel on Hang Ah Alley, or Pagoda Alley, in San Francisco, Ca., on Friday, June 18, 2010. Hang Ah means "fragrant" in Chinese. The story goes that a prostitute fell in love with German chemist who opened a perfumery. When he shipped off to war, he never returned, and she later died of heartbreak. Her ghost supposedly remains, upstairs, looking out the window waiting for her husband to return.
